Ryedale Walking Group

Welcome to Ryedale Walking Group, a well established walking group with over 50 members based in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire. Walks are organised regularly throughout the year. The group is affiliated to the Ramblers.

For our Programme covering May to August 2012 click Programme on the menu to the left of this page.

New members and visitors to the area are welcome to join us anytime. We have a modest annual membership fee of £5 to cover the few expenses involved in running a walking group.

Membership forms are available from Pauline, our Membership Secretary.

Most of our weekend walks vary between 7 and 13 miles in length. Our favoured areas are Ryedale, the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds, the Cleveland Hills and the Vale of York including the Howardian Hills.

Most walks take place within 35 miles of Pickering
but we also travel further afield occasionally on weekend breaks. We travel north, south, east and west and enjoy the beauty of our area to the full.

We are keen to promote car sharing or the use of public and community transport to get to the start of walks. For many walks we meet in the car park at Pickering swimming pool and only take the cars necessary. Walks are usually on Saturdays or Sundays although there some midweek walks. During the summer months we  also organise plenty of evening walks.

The social side of our Group is important so whilst on our walks we often frequent tearooms, look in churches and at anything else of architectural interest. We have also been known to visit fish and chip shops and even pubs!

Our members enjoy a 10% discount at local walking shops (see Links on the menu).

Please read carefully and accept the Legal Policy and Constitution before you walk with us.
